Introduction / Course Aim

The Preparatory class aims to help students to improve their command of English in order to cope with the mainstream curriculum. Students usually spend about 6 months to build their foundation in English. Students will be given an entry test to determine the level of entry. New Cambridge Education Centre shall determine students’ English proficiency Level based on the following test: 

 

Vocabulary & Grammar:	Students will be tested on their knowledge and grasp of words relating to every day situations. Specialised, technical vocabulary will not be included. Students understanding and ability to handle basic grammatical rules will also be put to the test.
Essay / Letter Writing:	The students’ ability to express themselves in writing will be determined in this section. Clarity, coherence and correct usage of expressing are the key to look out for here.
Oral:	A conducive environment will be provided in which students are tested on their ability to maintain a conversation, with comprehension and clear communication being the order of the day.

 Our course content conforms strictly to the Singapore MOE syllabus. The whole course is very intensive and is conducted in English so as to help students to improve their English proficiently within short period of time. This course will include bi-monthly tests and one examination. 

The teaching methods are based on syllabus and curriculum used by the government schools in Singapore and the textbooks used are selected from MOE-approved publishers. Our course is designed to provide students with specific examination skills, mastery of the English language and a broad understanding of the culture and learning environmental in local government schools.
