Course Target
This course is suitable for any
• Foreign student who wants to prepare to enrol into a government school in Singapore.
• Foreign or local student who wants to improve or attain the English and Mathematics proficiency at the respective Primary and Secondary levels.
Course Assessments
Class tests are conducted on the second week and fourth week of each month for English and Mathematics. They are formative and conducted so that the teacher will have some information or knowledge of each student’s progression. The tests taken do not lead to any award.
Internal Exams & Awards
There are no internal exams for this course. New Cambridge Education Centre will only issue a Certificate of Attendance to students who have achieved at least 90% of class attendance for the respective Preparatory Courses for Admission to Government Schools attended.
However, students who intend to gain admission into a Government School must take the below external tests/exams instead.

Result Release & Outcome | After 5 to 10 working days. Note*: There are no publicly disclosed cut-off scores for passing or failing the AEIS test. Admission is competitive and depends on the student's performance relative to other candidates and the availability of school places.
Our Preparatory Course for Admission to Government Schools aims to assist our students to
• Perform well in the respective CEQ and AEIS/S-AEIS tests by following the respective test details & exam format.
• Improve their English and Mathematics proficiency by following the MOE syllabus.
There are 2 course intakes in a year: January to June and July to mid-December.
A new Student Contract has to be signed whenever students enrol for a course intake. Hence, for students who enrol for both intakes, they will be signing a total of 2 Student Contracts.
For students who join the classes in the middle of a course, course fees payable will be pro-rated and there will not be any make-up classes for lessons missed.

Books from MOE-approved publishers and worksheets based on the Singapore Education System syllabus. Internally test papers set specially for the CEQ and AEIS tests.
Face-to-face classroom lessons delivery with a maximum class size of 1 teacher to 11 students at classroom 1 and 1 teacher to 10 students at classroom 2 & 3.
The below age group acts as a guide for admission into Preparatory Course for Admission to Government School. More importantly, students will be given a placement test to determine the level of entry.

New Cambridge Education Centre’s Placement Test is specially designed to determine students’ English proficiency Level based on the following:
Vocabulary & Grammar | Students will be tested on their knowledge and grasp of words relating to everyday situations. Specialised, technical vocabulary will not be included. Students understanding and ability to handle basic grammatical rules will also be put to the test. |
Essay / Letter Writing: | The students’ ability to express themselves in writing will be determined in this section. Clarity, coherence and correct usage of expressing are the key to look out for here. |
Oral: | A conducive environment will be provided in which students are tested on their ability to maintain a conversation, with comprehension and clear communication being the order of the day. |
